This item has wolves on it which makes it intrinsically sweet and worth 5 stars by itself, but once I tried it on, that's when the magic happened. After checking to ensure that the shirt would properly cover my girth, I walked from my trailer to Wal-mart with the shirt on and was immediately approached by women. The women knew from the wolves on my shirt that I, like a wolf, am a mysterious loner who knows how to 'howl at the moon' from time to time (if you catch my drift!). The women that approached me wanted to know if I would be their boyfriend and/or give them money for something they called mehth. I told them no, because they didn't have enough teeth, and frankly a man with a wolf-shirt shouldn't settle for the first thing that comes to him.

I arrived at Wal-mart, mounted my courtesy-scooter (walking is such a drag!) sitting side saddle so that my wolves would show. While I was browsing tube socks, I could hear aroused asthmatic breathing behind me. I turned around to see a slightly sweaty dream in sweatpants and flip-flops standing there. She told me she liked the wolves on my shirt, I told her I wanted to howl at her moon. She offered me a swig from her mountain dew, and I drove my scooter, with her shuffling along side out the door and into the rest of our lives. Thank you wolf shirt.

Pros: Fits my girthy frame, has wolves on it, attracts women
Cons: Only 3 wolves (could probably use a few more on the 'guns'), cannot see wolves when sitting with arms crossed, wolves would have been better if they glowed in the dark.

For you left brain types out there, who are still unsure on whether or not this shirt would make a wise purchase, allow me to break it down for you.

Most shirts like this only contain one wolf. This shirt has three wolves, plus a moon. You are basically getting three wolves and a moon for the price on one wolf. You won't find that deal anywhere else.

Tanya O'Debra "Miss Bowery," has been crowned Miss Fag Hag 2010! The Second Annual Miss Fag Hag Pageant, a benefit for The Hetrick-Martin Institute, The Home of the Harvey Milk School was held at Comix last night, May 2nd.

Hosted by Cabaret/Comedy duo Mel and El, the show featured 10 girls competing, pageant style, in attempt to win the coveted title "Miss Fag Hag". The categories were Evening Wear, Talent, Question & Answer, The Skinnygirl Margarita Online Video Challenge, Producer Interview, and Presenting Your Gay in a Swimsuit. The swimsuit included themes like Lillith Fair, Coppertone Baby and Titanic, where Elyse Beye, "Miss Union Square's" gay counter part, Steve Parmenter was dressed in Leo DeCaprio garb and stripped to tiny skibbies to howls from the skin-hungry crowd. O'Debra was also the winner of the Skinnygirl Margarita Online Video Challenge and received a gift pack from Bethenny Frankel, including a bottle of Skinnygirl Margarita and her books, "Skinnygirl Dish" and "Naturally Thin!"

Celebrity judges included Hedwig and the Angry Inch creator John Cameron Mitchell, the Marble Faun of Grey Gardens Jerry Torre, the Village Voice's Michael Musto and surprise last-minute addition, Sordid Lives and Will and Grace funnyman, Leslie Jordan.

The Final Three: Jillian Snow Harris, Crystal Clements, and Tanya O'Debra

Second Runner up was "Miss Bushwick," Crystal Clements. 1st Runner up was "Miss Lower East," Jillian Snow Harris, who competed last year. It was tough competition with Jillian's rousing Liza impression that made a huge splash in the first pageant. Judge, Michael Musto noted "You are the first biological female to do Liza... including Liza."

Performers and presenters on-hand were Broadway's Darius de Haas, singing the opening number "Dreamgirls, with Lexi Lawson (Rent) and Rebecca Covington (Mamma Mia!)." BBC darling and MNN star, Margarita Pracatan, Singer/Songwriter, Charlene Lite, the Spangles Dance Company, Sahara Davenport from RuPaul's Drag Race, publishing powerhouse,Judith Regan, VH1 Tough Love's Abiola Abrams, Jon Wolfe Nelson from The L Word, Stephen Wallem from Nurse Jackie, Broadway's Daniel Robinson, Kate McKinnon from Logo's Big Gay Sketch Show, MTV's Legally Blonde: The Search for the Next Elle Woods winner Bailey Hanks, Billy Eichner writer for Logo's Big Gay Sketch Show, Miss Fag Hag 2009Heather Shields and a video message from a pregnant Bethenny Frankel, who said "No make up today guys: Pregnancy Card"

Witness Feats of Absolute Nerdiness!

This weekend we have proto-nerd Chris Hardwick here at Comix. Now, if you've ever seen Hardwick, you'll see he's too hot to be geeky, and he's done everything from co-host Singled Out on MTV to hosting Web Soup on G4. So you might think a guy like this doesn't really live up to his nickname of "Nerdist".

But you'd be wrong. In an interview with NY Press, Hardwick reveals

“I was a proto-nerd when being a nerd was not hip. I was in chess club tournaments. I studied Latin. I owned my first computer in 1981. I was the president of the Classics club and got my ass kicked for being a nerd,” proclaims Hardwick. “Now it’s this hip, retro thing. Now if you wear an Atari shirt it’s cool, but if I wore one when I was a kid I got stuffed in a trashcan.”

He also revealed that he plays D&D with Patton Oswalt and Brian Posehn, and that he recite Pi up to about 180 decimal places. !!!!

Yesterday we finally found a way to insure our dogs' futures.

Though for a long while I believed that all dogs go to Heaven, this website solves a problem I've been contemplating for years:

It was unanimous:
The March Comedy Madness audition was a fantastic chance to get seen by the booker and owner of Comix, the Like2Laugh staff, and comedy peers in New York City.

Over 200 comedians showed up to perform one minute of stand-up in front of six judges and 20 other comics. Maybe it was nervousness, but it was the first time a group of 20 comedians actually laughed at each other (and at an early morning competition no less!).

Two seasoned New York comics, Danny Solomon and Michael Lawrence had this to say:

Bryan Kennedy, the producer of the competition was also pleased:

One comedian showed up at 5:45 am to be first (the audition started at 9:00 am), but Comix opened its doors so comedians did not have to stand out in the cold for hours. This led to tons of comedians filling up our bar, meeting new people, and talking to old friends instead of going directly to their day jobs. What a good break! Even if people didn't make the cut, the audition seemed to be fun for everyone.

Life's Tough If You Work in the Legal System and Have to Hear These Cases

In Michigan, a 27 year old man was the victim of a minor car accident. Several years later, the man sued the person who hit him claiming that the accident changed his sexuality. He said that since the accident he was no longer sexually attracted to his wife, moved in with his parents, and started frequenting gay bars.

In 1991, another Michigan man sued Budweiser for false advertising and mental anguish. Citing a commercial in which two women come to life for a couple of Budweiser drinkers, he was angry that he wasn’t experiencing the same fantasy. That case was dismissed.

A woman was watching the local news, where the weather report predicted sunny weather. She went out without a coat and got caught in a downpour. She subsequently caught a flu bug, missed four days of work, and had to buy some NyQuil. She sued for $1000 for that and mental duress.

A woman sued an Egyptian hotel because she claimed the swimming pool at the hotel got her 13-year-old daughter pregnant. She said that there must have been sperm floating in the pool because her daughter “did not meet any boys on the trip”. That daughter went on to win an Oscar for Best Actress.

10. No equipment lugging, thank heavens (though there is emotional baggage).

9. You don't end up deaf at the end of the night (though you will wish you could “unhear” that bit about pussyfarts).

8. You don’t have to hear long, drawn out stories with weak punchlines just because they sang “Free Bird” (Comedians just tell long, drawn out stories. And then apologize for not having a point.)

7. You don’t have to learn all the words to the songs and sing along with them at his shows.

When he tries out new songs/material on you, you’re not awkwardly staring at the ground while he strums a guitar and sings soulfully (instead, you’re talking about something serious like your fear of mortality, and he stares off into the void as if really contemplating what you said, then tries a “how bout these McGriddles” bit on you again.)

5. Even if the show is horrible, he’ll only be up there for like, 10 minutes max (but you’ll have to wait 30 minutes more than you though you would while the host talks to his mom onstage).

4. You don’t have to help him come up with lame rhymes to words like “struggle” and “heart”. (but you will have to think seriously about whether it’s funnier to reference Jersey Shore or Olive Garden in a bit that is borderline racist)

3. You do get to come up with funny observations about movies and etc and so on. (but you will be judged if they’re kind of hack.)

2. Comedians don’t take themselves so damn seriously. (unless they’re John Mayer)

1. Funny is sexy. (is it?! I’ve been going about this all wrong.)
